Usually when we're given a scratch-off lottery ticket as a present, we may not expect to get more than a couple bucks.
But when Willie Wright scratched off a '20 X The Cash' ticket purchased by his fiancee Karlissa Stroman, it was worth one million dollars!
After I scratched the ticket, I immediately went back to the store to have them verify it. Once they verified it, we went and celebrated with family.
The ticket was purchased at Smokes For Less on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. Ironically, it's usually Karlissa who likes to play the scratch-offs.
After taxes, he'll get about $33,000 a year for the next twenty years. Willie says he'll continue to work at his job, Big Lots, but still doesn't have any plans for the money yet - other than helping out his family.
What a great Valentines Day for Willie and Karlissa - Congrats!
